It’s a really unusual flower, love the exoticness, Stan. Looks a real treat for the insects.

Look at those big fruit pods too Kate. This tree species puts a lot of energy into reproducing. It's a show and a half!

It certainly is, Stan! As they say, an all rounder. Are there any animals or wildlife that eat the fruits?

I can't say for sure Kate, but in San Francisco where wild Mexican Parrots are, they might be feasting on the pods.
Opossums would eat flowers too,I'm sure..they climb trees in my area to get my Plums..dang them!

That’s interesting about the parrots, Stan. Nothing is safe in the garden is it!!! Crikey, you’ll be on high alert monitoring the plum thieves!
A patient of mine has several fruit trees. I came away last week with a massive bowl of the most delicious plums!!

Is it a tree or a vine, Stan?

Tree Lori. Mostly they are medium to patio trees..but old ones watered in a garden can get 15 meters or so tall and wider.

I love these trees! The red, pink and even white ones are beautiful! I know it's a super common tree, but it's still one of my favorites!
