Fabulous pic!

Have to pollard it every spring. It would be a thug if we didn't. It rewards us with enormous leaves that fall with an audible "plop" in the autumn!

Wow, do they change colour first?

13 Aug, 2008

No, they go a bit yellow but aren't remarkable. The tree grows really fast. It's grown 7 feet this year. It is nearly as tall as a bamboo that grew more than 18 feet in 6 weeks last year. Perhaps we'll have to go lighter with the chicken manure!! We are surrounded by thugs! We can always get a chain saw!

Ha ha, so you use chicken manure, isn't it a bit limey? I used to use sheep manure made into compost in my Spanish garden.

We use the manure in the areas of the garden that don't mind lime. For the rest, we use Growmore or Miracle Grow, or whatever's cheap at Wilkos!

Yes, Wilkos Wonder Grow!

13 Aug, 2008

When visitors ask do we send away for our begonias we answer, "No we get them from Wilkos"! The same answer for the bamboo hoops to support the plants, and the fertiliser, and the spring bulbs..... I should ask them for a discount for all the promotion!

Yes, you should especially if during filming, you have their Wonder grow strategically placed!
