Painted Lady Sweet Pea

Very unusual. I haven't seen this color before.

Beautiful. Love how the yarn colour compliments the flower too! Always have good memories of my grandfather ‘papa’ and his wonderfully scented sweet peas.

Lovely. I already bought these for next year. What a good idea! As a knitter I have lots of odd bits of wool. Will definitely try this next year too. Thanks for the idea and I won't have to use boring garden string.

Planted mine in the greenhouse yesterday along with seed I saved from this years 'Cupani'. Monty spurred me on on Friday to get this done and other half hardies too. I have two empty coldframes to fill!

Oh wow you started them now. When will you put them out? I think I will try to start some now for winter blooms, not sure if that will work but I will try.

Some half hardies can be started in the autumn and will get off to a good start come spring. Here's what Sarah Raven says:
Half-hardy annuals

Half-hardy plants cannot withstand winter wet and cold, and will be killed by the frosts. However you don't need to wait until the warmer weather to get going – sow your seeds or grow your seedlings in a light, frost-free place, protecting them under cover until the frosts are over. You’ll then have decent sized plants out in the garden at the end of spring, but the plants will be zapped by the frosts in the autumn.

Mine are in the greenhouse under a bench but a frost free shed would do I suppose. This year mine flowered late as I planted late so I'm giving them a bit of a chance this year for next years flowers.

and ordered some seeds for next year. They will ship to the US so I was very excited about that.
