Spotted this Shrub and and then the old milestone on my excercise walk the other day, so returned today with my camera.
SnowBerry is a deciduous suckering shrub with these white berries. A very large thicket by the side of the main road.

I love 'popping' those snow berries :o) I don't know if it happens in your area but someone in ours has taken it upon themselves to go round uncovering and repainting old mile stones they are unique it would be a shame to lose them ...

Love it! I live off Old Bath Road and we have a few milestones here which someone has started to renovate this year too.

Yes Amy, the figures have been painted. Win-ton was an old name of an area in Winchester.
Bird don't seem to be interested in these white berries.
Thorney, I remember these old milestones from my childhood when we went to London along this road from Bournemouth, to visit my Mother's Aunt at Christmas time.
Near us are 4 staddlestones which are mentioned in The Doomsday Book (with a newer barn on top of them.) Don't usually walk these areas, but was bored with takng my daily excercise along the same route.

Did you get as far as London on your walk, Siris?? Possibly a garden escapee. I quite like them but know they can be a thug.
