A favourite shrub of mine. Evergreen and wonderfully scented at the moment by its small, white flowers.

I wouldn't be without this in a garden, Kate. Saw it in a garden years ago, in Devon, and the scent was overpowering on a still day. Sadly, we get too many windy ones here to always catch the scent from it.

Thank you, Klahanie. I've only seen deer up here a few times, at night, on the bit of green in front of the house.

It's lovely at all times of year, I think. The small shiny leaves make a good backdrop in the summer. A bit like overgrown sarcoccoca...

I haven’t this osmanthus variety, Ange, but a couple of others. This is a nice one, the flowers are very pretty too.
