Possibly a 'Marmite' shrub ... I like it but detest Marmite!

Agree with you, Shirley. The blue sky backdrop really enhanced the Photinia colouring!
I have to admit to NEVER trying marmite.

Thanks Sue . . . :o)
Wow Kate, I don't even like the smell of it when OH has it on cheese on toast, yuk!
24 Apr, 2021
I have to say, I have never even had a whiff of it!!!!😁

In my opinion, you have missed nothing!

lovely photo and like Kate never tried marmite. The name puts me off dont know why, it just does. yeast extract isn't any more appealing either.

Sbg, I laughed out loud at your comment!

glad I made you smile.
never tried peanut butter either, same reason.

Eileen made me chuckle too. I have tasted peanut butter, not too keen...saying that rats and mice love it - useful on traps!

Wrens love peanut butter and I like Marmite! I have a marmite drink every morning because I shouldn’t have too much caffeine ... and this week we’ve been unable to source it. OH has bought me a pot of yeast extract which looks similar but I have yet to try it ...
Look what you’ve started Shirley 🙂.

Sheila . . . here's a quote heard at a tea van outside a football ground years ago:
Bovril, no sugar please!!!

🙂🙂

Sheila, have you tried de-caff tea and/or coffee? Michael drinks de-caff tea but I dislike tea of any sort!
27 Apr, 2021
Yes - thanks Shirley, I do have half a mug of de-caff coffee after lunch and supper. Sometimes lemon and ginger tea in the afternoon, so it’s quite manageable 🙂.

I mix 'full fat' caffiene coffee 50:50 with decaff. sort of hits the spot satisfactorily.

Shirley - love the ‘bovril no sugar’!!!! Fantastic!!!!!😆

Sheila, you've clearly got it under control - well done!
Sounds a good idea Sbg . . .
Ha ha Kate, apparently the guy said it with a straight face, which made it even funnier!!

I've never tried Marmite either, but it just doesn't appeal, but your Red Robin does ! it's looking beautiful,as are mine, but as yet,no flowers this year..I live in hope,as they were wonderful last year :o)
28 Apr, 2021
Well, another GoYer who hasn't tried Marmite! Our Red Robin trees are the exact opposite then Sandra as mine had no flowers last year . . .
28 Apr, 2021
I'm not tempted to try it either,Shirley ! lol ,I guess it's a bit like when children say'I don't like it',and we used to say, ,how do you know, when you haven't tried it' ? Lol..
I'll keep a look out for flowers this year, and live in hope ! :o)
28 Apr, 2021
Sandra, that's so true re. the children! I hope your Red Robin blooms for you . . .

Not only children, sometimes. Shirley ! mentioning no names:o) I hope it flowers again too,but I must say,the red foliage appears to be more spectacular this year, but I have noticed a lot more leaf drop too, although I think it's more likely to be the older leaves..I hope !..

If anyone is going to be tempted by Marmite after all this, bear in mind that it needs spreading Very Thinly on top of the butter. Goes best on toast or Ryvita, surprisingly. You only need a thin smear, its very strongly flavoured.

Well, I wouldn't know about a Marmite shortage!! Isn't it called Vegemite in Australia and New Zealand? I thought the blue sky was a lovely backdrop to the Photinia.
