Thanks Eileen. It really catches the eye doesn't it? It gives pizzazz to a dark gloomy corner then sends up bright purple flower stalks.

Sorry Anget, I have no idea of the name. It's a division from my mom's garden & she got it in 1957 when she bought the house. I came along long afterwards. Yeh it's older than me! lol.
However, if you look around, you're likely to come across one just like it. It's very popular.

That's interesting Klahanie. I've seen some of his works at the Met. He was definitely a gifted painter. Staring at this plant for too long gives me vertigo - like a Van Gogh painting.
