Hot orange poppy!

Picked this up this morning at the GC, couldn’t resist it! I think Klahanie and her lovely orange poppies inspired me!
Managed to ‘squeeze’ this onto the rockery!

Thanks ladies! I just managed to squeeze it in! It’s looking very cheerful this pm as it’s now raining lightly...it’s very bright and colorful.

Annual poppies can become heirlooms! my Dad grew them from seed from his Mother's garden! (1940's) No kidding!
I've grown them in every garden I've ever had, and kept seed for years at a time. They grow huge where the soil is good... and I've seen them growing in pure sand (not very large mind you, but growing with next to no moisture). a quick garden check, and I can tell you they are emerging in a thick mat. enough to transplant among all my beds... and some are coming up in the asparagus! Love your zingy red!

Thank you, Amy. They are very bright, almost neon!
It’s a nice gift your grandson gave you, especially if they keep popping up every year!

Thank you, Lori..they are hot!!!
Your info about poppies stretching way back to 1940 is amazing!!!! They definitely are a giver aren’t they! Fantastic hearing this, I mean, it’s just decades and decades ago too!!!!

I took all the seed heads from my flower bed crop last year and put them in a large shopping bag and tucked them away in my cold storage for the winter... or so I thought. Found the remains, relocated by some mouse, no doubt, and said mouse had consumed all the seed and left the husks! Thought I'd lost them. Disaster! Lucky for me those lovely plants of last year had seeded themselves. the bed is a sea of seedlings! what a relief! the mouse must have spent an oblivious winter!

That was very fortunate, Lori!!! I love your little mouse story!!!
