Kate, this is Alice through the Looking Glass in Guildford
castle gardens. Charles Dodgson lived in Guildford. My IPad is playing up. I put on the photos & then it wouldn't let me put on the captions. It stuck! I didn't know if the photos had gone on or not. I had to wait until this evening to try again.

That was the real name of Lewis Carol.
Apparently Queen Victoria was so delighted with his first Alice book she asked for a copy of the next book he wrote. It was duly sent to her but she was non plussed as it was a treatise on Mathematics!

I didn't know about Queen Vic. Requesting his next Alice book & getting a book on Maths! I bet she was not amused. I wouldn't have been.
