For Kate: Hameln Fountain Grass

For Kate: Hameln Fountain Grass

Kate has introduced me to the world of ornamental grasses and I dove in.... This is a dwarf native variety that fits perfectly into my native garden. The plumes turn a wonderful russet color in late fall. Hameln a well behaved clumping variety.

Those are fun. I picked up an Acorus recently (a new one on me). Will have to see how it goes on...

Those are nice as well Anget with its lime green foliage. Easy care grass from what I understand. The native grasses are fantastic - you just plant it and it cares for itself.

I agree, and there are so many choices. Glad you found some with autumn colour Paul - sounds great.

Thanks Sheila. I'm treading into new territory with these native grasses. I hope it works as I imagined. I hope all is good with you. I had my covid shot yesterday - no side effects so far.

Thanks Paul, I’ve had two jabs but still feel bruised on my left upper arm. But life is good as we’re currently on a break near the sea in the south of the country (Dorset): in a cottage with a garden by a mill stream with chickens and ducks for company!

Sounds ideal Sheila. I can only imagine how relaxing and beautiful the scenery must be - with chickens and ducks. Their always fun.

Paul, apologies for my late reply…been a very busy week at work!
I’m loving your ornamental grasses!!!!! Great purchases! I’m pleased your dipping your toe into this area of gardening. They do sit well among the blooms and other shrubs. They do need little attention..which is a bonus!
Hope you’re doing ok after your covid jab!
I’m due my flu jab this week coming and my booster covid job, which will be number 3!

There you are Kate, lol! Nice to hear from you. We've had a few good thunderstorms since I planted these grasses and they look better than I imagined - especially when the sun lights them from behind. I enjoy the movement of the tassels in the wind. No effects from my covid. It was a requirement for work. I'm going to pass on the flu shot since I don't remember ever having the flu.

I'm so glad you like my grasses and thanks for the suggestion. They are a nice addition to my native garden.

That’s good to hear, Paul! I’m pleased you’re liking the grasses - you’ve described how they look and fit in the garden perfectly! They do act well as companion planting with our bright blooms!
Hoping your thunderstorms have passed over!

I’m pleased you’ve had no ill effects from the covid vaccine. I’m planning to book my flu jab this week at work. I’ve had flu a couple of times in my life - it felt like I’d been hit by a articulated lorry!!!
We’re due a booster covid vaccine soon too!!

I’m sorry I didn’t message you to ask if all was ok on 9/11?
I can imagine it wasn’t the best day for you as you live in the state. I do hope it wasn’t too bad for you.

Yes 9/11 was a day I'll never forget. I lived it an actually witnessed the buildings collapsed. My office is on Park Avenue and 42nd street - way out of range of the debris field but the feeling of witnessing the deaths of thousands of people literally made me sick - and not knowing what was happening at the time or where/when the next 'bomb' would fall. It's traumatizing to say the least. Thank you so much for your well wishes.

I was just notified that I'm required to have the flu shot as well. It's good to be protected I suppose.
