Thanks all. Some of that I was told would not grow here. You have to go by your plant instinct sometimes.

Around 2006 or so,I was part of a local exotic garden board and do you know most of what I was told was "It won't grow here"..big internet arguments. Imagine a local board on growing tropicals in the San Francisco bay area that tried to be a wet blanket of no encouragement!
My biggest problem has been Gophers. Evil little creatures. They seem to love palms especially but will go after Ficus roots also.
I want to give the local cats a medal when I find gopher remains in the yard.
