Galanthus nivalis - 2022 (Galanthus nivalis)

Bog standard snowdrops. I'm not paying oodles of money for something with two green spots instead of one, or an extra petal every other year

I couldn't agree more Andrew, I do look inside them and have quite a bit of variation in the green marks, but nothing I would expect anyone to pay extra money for.

Once a upon a time we collected many different types. They were noticeably different in growth and shape. However, they have dwindled and disappeared over the years. A lot seem very miffy.. And we obviously didn't give them the care they required. We've given up trying to increase the collection and saved our bank balance!

I would not buy extral special Snowdrops, they would just get muddled up with the common variety which increases so easily. I do have doubles though, mixed up with the above of course.

Sbg - I have singles, doubles (confined to one border), and galanthus plicatus 'Wendy's Gold' which is the cheapest yellow one

I’ve just put another 100 standard snow drops in, trying to create a sweeping white carpet in my otherwise dull winter perennial garden. Yours look lovely.

What else?

See who else is growing Galanthus nivalis.

See who else has plants in genus Galanthus.
