I think Klahanie that when we had a big freeze in 1992 temps were down to 24f for a tree used to milder winters. It probably froze back to the thickest branches. I have a Bonsai Schefflera that did the same exact things in 1992,all the branches froze back with within 2" of the trunk. It survived and looked even better with that look. I still have it green and lush here in 2022.
