An older rose that I've always fancied but never seen in real life. I risked a bare-root this winter and thought it was a goner but it has come up slowly, Lazarus-like. I like the 2-tone colours on the different aged blooms. I hope it makes it through the next winter.

Fingers crossed, Shirley. It's a big one so I have to decide where to place it.

Can you delay planting it until the weather changes? In other words, until we may get some rain.

Oh yes, Shirley, I wouldn't risk it at the moment. The borders are parched and I'm watering all the newer planted bits regularly. I hope they get through to the autumn!

It’s a beauty, and you’re definitely right to leave it until later. It’d be horrid to lose it to the heat. I do love a rose with a French name. Sorry, it’s probably a bit pretentious on my part..

I'm all for a bit of pretension, Kate!

Not very much that I've noticed, Paul, but it hasn't had many flowers yet. I liked the open cup shape, much easier for insects to access.
