There’s about 50 of these plants all over this area of Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.

Yes, I think in 2019 they planted several in this area. I’ve posted many over the last 3 years.

They survive the winters here...then never grow much the following summer. Then die the second ( or 3rd with puny growth,) winter. Thats as marginal as it gets.

I always had bad luck up there with crotons. They always lost all of their leaves then would die.
This year my large crotons have put out the most leaves and growth in more than 11 years of growing them. The very hot and humid weather which we’ve had for more than 2 months have contributed to their very fast growth.
I can’t even see where my Mammy croton lost 10 percent of its leaves during a severe wilt (not sure how many hours) during an early April heatwave. I water them every day now, as it’s still very hot and humid here.
