For Stan. These palms are surrounding this house a few blocks from my house. Photo taken Dec. 8, 2022.

Most of these “so called” experts are used to making definitive statements without any proof or research. That infuriates me! My advice to pretty much anyone is, try it. I’ve been proven wrong many times myself. This is why I don’t typically make definitive statements about plants. Now, if someone wants to grow a lipstick palm here, I can say with high probability it will die here, outside. 😂

That's the largest clump(s) i've seen yet on the net in socal. Beautiful how recurved the fronds get.

These are small compared to some I’ve seen here. I remember one giant clump of 30 plus tall Dypsis lutescens in Del Cero. For some reason D. lutescens does very well and grows very large in Del Cero. I’ve posted pics of the very large, tall D. lutescens in Del Cero.

This photo is of species Dypsis lutescens - Butterfly Palm.
I had a local expert tell me that those palms "Dont look good in socal, especially in winter" When I had posted about trying them, again,in the bay area. I knew he was wrong because I've seen photos of them in winter looking plenty green. Like any other garden plant,it depends on the grower to look their best. My mistake up here is I didn't plant where the winter sun gets them all day. Summer sun did...but the winter shadows did them in. Plus a warm wall would help here very much.
