This very unusual tropical tree is growing at my friend’s house in northern San Diego County. The leaves are very large 5 ft or (1.4 m) long. Photo taken Dec. 17, 2022.

Oops. I called it African Fever tree on your other photo. I don't know much about them other than hard to find and some bay area tolerance to cold. Probably best in frost free 10 b Oakland or the hillsides that drain the cold air.
