Its a tree eventually...but more of a spreading tree. Its not one to get very tall unless its ancient. Has edible figs. They might not taste very good say the books..but I guess cooked with sugar could work says chef Stan.

Beautiful! I love F. auriculata!
It can grow to 30 ft (10 m) tall. I had a large one when I lived in Hayward. I was very sad when it died in the horrible 1990 freeze. I waited for a year for it to come back from the roots, along with my gorgeous F. eleastica ‘Decora’ ‘Burgandy’ trees it succumbed to the awful freeze. 😞

I lost a great Decora too from the freeze. It was the blackest leaved I've ever seen. A couple of years ago I saw another here in town- then the next year it was gone. It had been planted right up against a small home..a real foundation problem I guess.

Yes, up against a house is very bad news for the house.

Stan,
I used to go to Fuji’s Plant Outlet all the time. I knew the two brothers. I used order a lot of my rarer plants from Walt Fuji.
I was so sad when they sold their property and closed the nursery.😞
