Thanks Shirley. Yes, I think I have created a good garden, and it is now fairly low maintenance as most of the planting is shrubs and trees, with lots of lilies for summer colour.

I think this border looks very attractive. Like you, I have finally woken up to the easier maintenance and useful structure of trees and shrubs - a bit late, I know! It would be interesting to know which shrubs you have chosen and whether you have had to remove very much as things have grown up. I am trying to be ruthless now with perennials!

Looking good, Karen. I do like the lush green planting. We have planted more evergreen shrubbery this past year.
