This large woody vine was in full bloom in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. The very large flowers smell like very sweet coconut. It’s a Winter blooming vine. Photo taken January 11, 2024.

It develops into a massive vine extremely fast. It’s one of the fastest growing vines in the world.

I've seen one in town that runs the length of the home. Another on Pier 39 in San Francisco. Flora Grubb nursery has the variegated version. Exotic as can be blooms.

I used to have two when I lived in the SF Bay Area. They do well there. I’ve seen the one at Pier 39 in San Francisco. It’s been there for decades.
I posted a pic of the variegated one a couple months ago, it’s beautiful with the purple variegation!

When I first moved back to the Azores, I lived with a friend who had made a covered patio area with this. It is subject to wind burn, but grows fast.
