The bird feeder is hanging from the hook. Chickadee is my only all winter birds I see, and they are territorial. I have a ground bird is see now and then as well.

Black caps. Amazing when the sun shines and the temp just went up from -30F to -10F and they appear twittering away at the feeder or a spruce tree is erupting in song. I imagine sitting in that cold....BRRRRRR! And they're singing..

No Grey Jays that far north? Or maybe they aren't that far west...
I love the friendly chickadees too!

Grey Jays as well. I only serve one size seed so mostly just chickadee. I got a ground bird this year as well but Bianca can get them. The grey jays pass through on warm days. I'm thinking of adding something to maybe get some red poles, they come in a larger flock.

They should come for Nyjer seed. It is rather pricey & if you get a lot of birds it can disappear rapidly!

Are these the black capped variety or some over western variety. We only get the Carolina this far south. I'm surprised they will stay all year. That's great, at least you have one little visitor all year long! : )
