Nigella

I am steadily working my way round the borders pulling these out once the bees have finished with them so I don't have them popping up next year where I don't want them. They have sprung up all over!

They're pretty and I like the seed pods too, but they won't grow here at all, and the few that do always have greyish flowers. I don't bother with them any more.

Hywel, OH took 4 sackfulls of them to the tip today, as well as other stuff. I have also filled up the green bin with them. You can see if I left them to seed the borders would be overrun with them!! Sorry to hear you have so little luck with keeping them.

They must be a nuisance for you so it's good you're trying to control them. They seem to enjoy your garden :)

They are lovely flowers, but as you rightly say, they do self seed all around prolifically.

Crikey, I see what you mean! Would you believe I planted free seeds from a magazine back in the pandemic and zilch!!!! 😂

Thanks for your comments, Hywel, Shirley and Kate. I have the same difficulty with cowslips - have to thin them out when OH isn't looking.

We have masses too, but I do get rid of the seed heads …

I should be more diligent than I am, Sheila!
