There were about thirty birds, young and old, eating and bathing. They rarely visit our garden.

Yes indeed, I told them to eat as many as they cared to ... :o)

Their antics are fascinating to watch, Shirley. I just noticed the tray we leave out for bird bathing is empty. It was full of starling families last night!
Yes, we are overrun with ants, too, especially in the pots.

I don't mind them bathing, it's just the mess eft in the water that irks me! I had to wash out all three bowls last evening. It really is a bad year for having Ants around ... :o(

I feel pretty blessed as the new garden was pretty much waterlogged and anaerobic, so there were hardly any living creatures in it. So far we have no slugs at the back, and no ants either, in a year where there has been a countrywide plague of both! They will get here next year of course, if not before. But my plants are getting a break in their youth which is marvellous!

Karen, are those worms still thriving in your garden? I dug out a large Sedum the other day, the soil was rock hard and not a worm in sight! Perhaps they have gone deeper in the ground.
