Wind damage.

Two of my three shorter growing Verbena bonariensis have bitten the dust. Snapped off at their bases in the stormy weather. I won’t grow these again. The third one has survived because it has fennel in front of it to protect it.

I really don’t like high winds Shirley. But never mind. The Penstemons are lovely, and one of the short verbenas did survive with the help of the Fennel!

Karen, that's a real shame for you. It seems to me that every Summer brings high winds and stormy weather at least once in July. We found a tall Sunflower had been ripped out of the soil, it also took a couple of Geums ... :o(
