Another lizard shot.

He is so pretty Chris. What kind is it? The only reptiles we have in our area are snakes. How cold does it get at your home? I bet he keeps the rodent population down!

Sorry don't know his name. It's probably common something. I will try to google it. We get cold continental winters. It's usual to get a short cold snap with temps down to -20C and some years -30. More regular winter temps are between 0 to -10C. This lizard is only 6 ins long so would have a problem with a rodent, but I'm sure he eats lots of insects and grubs. We usually see them in the hot weather, and they live in holes in the ground.

Hi Lisa, I've looked it up and I think it's a type of Sand Lizard (Lacerta agilis).
This seems very likely since our soil is almost pure sand.
