Mines had strong winds on it so looking crisp around the edges too. It kept sending out new shoots that over the summer I pruned back. I've left the latest though and they're looking really healthy. The odd thing is they developed true Acer leaves..very odd.

This type of Acer seems quite temperamental. My other ones are no trouble . I'm wondering if Sheila will comment on hers to let us know how it has grown.

Yes!!!! I'm so dismayed. Ours is very crispy, first year ever!!!!!! It's been like it since midsummer :-(

Seems to be endemic. All my other Shirasawanum types are the same.

Mine looks like yours, Meadow. I'm not impressed with mine at all. I have one in a pot and one in the ground and they're both bedraggled. Not a good look
