I know I've shown my husband several times the proper way to handle a praying mantis, but of course , he's very hard headed. After he had all those little spikes piercing through his finger though, I'd say it's a safe bet he'll listen to me next time....lol. The larger the mantis the larger the spikes, and she was about 5 to 6 inches long.

Wohlibuli, that would be the answer to my prayers.., but unfortunately no. We're not that lucky !

Awww too bad!... I was about to ask the same question...the Japanese beetles and the blister beetles..you sure have your share of insects. they must think you are their benefactor with all that smorgasbord of plants you have to offer them every year!! LOL> that lovely mantis is huge!! we never see them that large up here!

as I've said in a dif. pic. I love to hold these guys. I mainly just let them crawl on my clothes and on top of my head.
