Planted this spring, i hope that it will be hardy in my garden.

This is a very tough fuchsia. Well it was in my last garden. It grew so vigorously I decided not to bring it with me here. It would get too big.

this is the alba, i have it in my hedgerow and it is over 6 ft high, my hedge is made up from alba and ricartonii. the ricartonii is over 8 ft tall they go well together. it loses all the leaves in winter but soon comes back to life in spring. would put a good mulch round the base as the only way you would lose it is if the frost gets at the roots

i saw alba in my garden today. my garden has never had such frosts before, so i was delighted to see just the tiniest signs of life.

I think you're right, it is the Alba. This being its first winter, I'll be interested to see how it goes next year. The first winter is always the most dangerous but if you planted in the spring it should have had time to establish its root system. Fingers crossed . . .
