Irish moss interplanted with blue fescue clumps...
Comments on this photo
Hello Dave, just posted a closeup of Sagina subulata aurea...the lime green/chartreuse var. sometimes called Scottish Moss...the dark green is called sagina subulata (Irish Moss)...They form a mat of dense green short needle-like, but soft, leaves which will tolerate moderate foot traffic.. The clump in my front garden (above pic) is coexisting with a medium size maple...who likes to suck up all the moisture, so I soak it with the hose occasionally. ...I often water it with water from my pond...that helps lower the pH of the soil...and I make a yogurt (or sour milk) cocktail for them every spring...I've spoken of this on here before as a means to spread/propagate mosses and algae on terra cotta and stone...
they bloom in June...tiny white starlike flowers...I have other pics of it on my page and it is in my garden list. It makes a lovely ground cover around taller grasses too. I planted the blue fescue because it is not very tall. and a complementary colour, also, it's fountain like growth habit looks topographic...lol. I recommend it Dave.
