Which types of tree grow well in that area?
I can see several in the picture.

When I was there Terratoonie, I saw loads of almond trees, cypresses, pine trees, prickly pers, olive trees, vineyards galore, any many more (sorry I'm no expert). In that region, they are also famous for their oregano - really special on freshly picked plum tomatoes with a drizzle of local olive oil .....
