They all look very healthy. Do you use special compost for your succulents Sandra

thanks joannie
all our plants are grown in peat free compost mixed with grit or sand. at the moment i am using focus do-it-all peat free multipurpose compost. the succulents like 50% compost and 50% sand and grit. the cacti like even more drainage.

I've got a really big succulent that we bought from Wales last year. It's about 8-10 inches across and a bit like the ones at the top of this pic. It has all little ones around it. To split them do I just break them off and set in the compost and top with grit. Is this a good time to split them, have they got time to start growing before winter or would it be best to leave them till spring? It's outside at the moment but we'll move it into the greenhouse for the winter but we have no heat in it, it did OK last winter though. I just wonder if the 'babies' would or if they'd be best left attached the the main plant
