What's this plant?

What's this plant?

A friend gave us this plant several years ago but we have no idea what its called. It has speckley leaves a bit like an hosta in spring then when they die back it sends up this amazing head which is green to begin which then changes to a brilliant orange/red. Since we've had it, it's managed to double in size (it now has 2 heads)

I remember it being more of a wild plant like the old fashioned arums. It's either cuckoo pint or lords and ladies and I think these berries are poisonous. Its usually seen in hedgerows and damp shady areas. Did it have the white flower in the Spring Joannie?

I can't be absolutely sure but think so. It's in a bed where we have hostas and to be honest I take very little notice of it till it sends up this head. If it does flower it doesn't grab my attention like the hostas do. I'll ask Gray in the morning to be sure

Are the leaves a bit like pulmonarias in shape? I've seen them growing by the shady stream here.

I think it's Arum or Cuckoo pint aswell. I've seen it growing wild but never in a garden. The berries are poisin.
All the best, Hywel.

Ok, so I was given a poisonous weed, what does that say about my friend...wait till I see him! Anyway, I still like it and will keep it. Dylan isn't interested in it so not likely to eat it and I'm not into poisonous berries although perhaps Gray had better tow the line and get this swamp/patio sorted ! LMAO

Mine is called Arum Italicum, don't know if your leaves look the same. I love this plant and wish I could get mine to set berries ! I'm happy with the beautiful veined leaves and the white spathe-like blooms in summer. I'll just have to some back to your post to admire the berries from time to time...lol
