Castor Bean in Blossom!

Lucky you. I'm still waiting for my 3 Castor Beans to get buds ! This drought has been really rough even though I water them daily. They like the rain. This plant seems happy !

We are getting rain today for the first time in weeks...things were getting a little dry... sorry to hear about the drought you've suffered...but with the aftermath of the storms in the gulf and the caribbean perhaps that will be remedied? I was a little worried about having them in the garden with my dog about...but it seems that I worried for naught.. they are wonderful plants and they present no challenges~ I've been careful to dispose of the leaves in the kitchen garbage and make sure I don't get any sap on my skin when I prune it....you can see the holes in the leaves..I was surprised that they were not in ribbons as we had two storms in August with grape sized hail. I planted eight seeds and I have seven plants in my garden...the ones I planted nearest the pond are doing the best of all.

Oh gosh, you've been dry too. Glad you finally got some rain. Yes, we got blasted with Tropical storm Ike on Sunday and we've been without electric ever since. It's been 2 days ! (I'm running the generator to keep my fish alive and keep the freezer and frig going). With the price of gas to run the generator it's killing me ! We only got the wind part........not one drop of rain ! Do you believe it ! All the rain went north of us. We have trees and limbs down everywhere. I hope you didn't get any of that.

I can see now why climate change is becoming a concern world wide...Ike seemed pretty ferocious... we experienced some really high winds and some rain...and a friend in Nova Scotia said they also had gales and rain...we received enough to bring the water table up a little...we had branches and limbs down and I was concerned for the birdhouse but it managed to stand through it all! my mulleins fell over...but they were due to do that! lol. I really am sorry to hear of your hardships...gas prices are crazy here too... it seems strange to me that all of N.A. gets their gas from gulf refineries??? I think the gas companies are enjoying windfalls...and I don't mean trees!
Time for a raindance!!
