I like it when people use stuff like this for planters. My older brother had a truck like this too. We hauled a lot of dirt in that truck :) I just bought an old miniature metal red wagon (about 12 in x 8 in) at the flea market the other day. I'm going to drill holes for drainage and plant succulents in it. Do you guys know what that is, the flea market? It's an open-air market (outside), where vendors and people sell stuff, all kinds of stuff. Some sell antiques, some sell new crap, made poorly. Some sell old stuff that they don't need anymore and some try to sell old broken junk that nobody needs. I like to find old stuff there, something unusual or well-made . Somethimes I find pottery there. I found a great ceramic earthenware pot w lid there once. I asked the guy what he wanted for it and he asked what I wanted to pay for it. I told him $5 and he said, "sold" :) It's a great vessel. Mostly I buy plants there, though. I got a yellow and orange canna and three succulents from there this weekend. Aeonium tabuliforme (anyone know a more common name?), is the name of a flat rosette looking succulent that I got this weekend. I'd seen it in a garden show before, resembled a stepping-stone. I'll get a picture later and post it.

I think that I would love it, and would come home with a lot of lovely junk, lol! It sounds a lot like a place we call the Flea Market. Our's is set up at an old Drive-In. Do you have drive-ins? Our's are almost all gone now. Our drive-in has two giant movie screens ( each playing a diff movie) outside and you park your car next to a speaker that you hang on your window for audio or some you can tune in on you car radio. They have concession stands that sell popcorn, candy, soda, etc. In the mornings on the weekends the flea market is at the drive-in. It was closed down for a while, because the property was sold. It reopened but it's not like it was before. There used to be a lot of people selling all sorts of stuff. I went last weekend with my friend. Of course I found stuff to buy, but there was hardly anybody selling. The county fair was going on at the same time, so maybe that's why.

i take plants to the boot sales, but i always come home with something i can't resist.
we don't have drive ins but i've seen them on films like greese. ithink we get too much rain for drive ins.

"Car Boot Sales" originated in car parks, etc, where people loaded up their car boots (trunks, I think, you call them) with unwanted stuff and sold out of them. Then they graduated to trestle tables set up outside the cars/vans. You can usually rent a space for about £5, proceeds to a charity. gr8 idea for fundraising, recycling, etc!

Thanks for the 'boot' ref. David. I had wondered what boots (we use that word to mean shoes) had to do with it??? Yes, 'trunk' is what we call boots. Which is strange now that I think about it, 'trunks' are on elephants... Also a 'trunk' is a large chest that you pack stuff away in, lol! 5 euro for a space?!? What a deal! We pay $30 for the tiniest of spots. You can purchase a bigger site...for more $$.

Glad I could help, Tasteyg!

Here is my own definition, however. Boots you wear in wet weather, trunks are male swimming attire - the two go well together in the current weather here. Will not be posting pics, though, lol!

No photos of you wearing your wellies and swimming trunks...c'mon. I thought that we were all about laughs here!?!
