Ant nest.

Hmm, I didn't think they ever left the nest - being busy procreating and all. Perhaps the queen bee is the one I have in mind. Maybe she had to come out and personally supervise the gathering of food to make sure she got her favorites! lol.

Saw them when I overturned a rock, they all scurried into several quarter sized holes into the ground..Found a couple of these nests while doing autumn maintenance...
