I won't find out if the new feeders work well till we get more into winter.
They are the type which has a tube up the centre, like a normal bird-feeder, which is either a bit like yours above (for seeds) or mesh tube for peanuts.
Then the tube is enclosed in a globe-shaped cage. Only small birds such a robins, blue tits, great tits and finches would be able to reach the inside.
You can either let the whole thing hang down from e.g. a stand, or you can plant it on a pole, sort of looking like a lollipop.
In winter I'll try to photograph my globe-shaped feeder, and I'll certainly let you know if it is successful. You can see from my homepages that I'm not much into photography yet. Lol.
I see you found my dogs there. Budgie is also there with Garfield ! :o)

Calz......The control of squirrels is better with a Harris Hawk.........See my new pic. Have fun with outwitting the Squirrel. My next door neighbour used to make his own feeders with weldmesh, sheet steel and nuts and bolts. Before this the squirrels were destroying a feeder every day.

A friend recently bought me some of those squirrel-proof seed and nut feeders. ( Rather expensive, I think! )
I'm using them to see if it keeps away the starlings and lets the little birds feed. I don't get squirrels in my garden. :o)
