Thanks Irish - wonder if Janette forgiven me for finishing all the lager ?

6 Oct, 2008

Well I will forgive you Bonkers ,this time lol

6 Oct, 2008

Maybe we should start drinking tequilla - isnt that the drink with a worm or bug in the bottle? Think how many creepy crawlies we could get rid of.Perhaps a few slugs of whisky too.

6 Oct, 2008

Worm slugs No I think I will just stick to the lager I am sure Eileen would join you with the slugs of whisky She likes slugs lol

6 Oct, 2008

you ever have tequilla Bonkers? maybe we could start something new.
a slug in every can of guinness lol

6 Oct, 2008

Slugs in Guinness great idea Just thinking of the Sunday drinker lol

6 Oct, 2008

lol dunno who you could be talking bout

6 Oct, 2008

He would never touch the stuff again if he swallowed a big fat slug LOL

6 Oct, 2008

Well beats a widget ! Have just googled Tequilla to find out about the worm .Quite interesting and surprisingly garden related. The tequilla plant is an Agave you know those big spiky yellow and green house plants.

Apparently its a butterfly larva that burrows into the plant. Its only done in districts of Mexico not America.Never eaten the worm and wont now but great with salt and lime.

cool Bonkers, we can drink to our hearts content knowing that it has something to do with gardening lol...... i know, i know , any excuse and im on it

6 Oct, 2008

Thought just in case a few members thought they d logged into to an AA counselling session - I d mention plants.Did you see Snowdrops caterpillar? This the tussock moth that feeds on hops !!! Beer and lager shortage does Guinness need hops?

6 Oct, 2008

Well no chance of getting flagged then if its garden related lol Might just go and have a read myself I have never tried the stuff myself

6 Oct, 2008

its an aquired taste janette.
guinness always needs hops Bonkers , some days in the city centre you can get the strong smell of hops from the brewery

6 Oct, 2008

Oh well going to have to change to spirits or water! When lived in York it was the smell of chocolate from Rowntrees and Terrys .

6 Oct, 2008

Well I.ll be fine with the lager it usualy smells of crisp here Not far from Golden Wonder crisp factory

6 Oct, 2008

i grew up now far from the cadbury and tayto ( crisps) factorys over here, used to loveeeee the smell

6 Oct, 2008

No I hate the smell of the oil yuk, dont mind the crisps but lol

6 Oct, 2008

anyone got the munchies yet reading this lol ive just had some popcorn

6 Oct, 2008

Another gardening fact my fellow drinkers. Cadburys and Rowntrees were Quakers so wouldn t approve of us - wouldnt allow pubs in their communities but insisted that workers grew lots of fruit and veg . Even today when visiting these villages ablaze in spring with blossom as each garden planted with various fruit trees .

They were totally socialist if you the company director with no children you d live in a smaller house than the guy who swept the factory floor if he had six kids. As you can imagine not big on contraception then.Ps struggling here to keep this garden related but 10/10 for effort?

6 Oct, 2008

Her maiden name was Ballantyne and she opened the chart to read ' this famous SCOTTISH family... ' she went ballistic .
