Just been reminded to upload the Japanese willows (salix) that I bought for 50p each at Wilko's. Despite Wilko's total lack of care they have both put out new greenery (You can see the brown dehydrated leaves mainly chopped back) and will survive so 2 for £1. Gives me great satisfaction. Not that I am cheap or even particularly hard-up. I just love it.

I had a couple of these on my porch and they always recovered after I had forgotton to water them in their pots, The pinky colour to the leaves is great. I unfortunately forgot for just a bit too long ;-( and they are no longer.

Hi john, great bargain, I love the Salix, I killed my first one by not protecting it in winter, I was being Lazy, Now i have another one, about 6ft, another bargain last year £5 99. A pillow case over the top of it, and thats all it needs for winter :)))

Hmm. I'll have to go to the jumble sale to buy a pillow case. More expense.

I love these shrubs too ! They look so lacy and delicate, but they are tough as nails. They really brighten up a shady corner.

Good to see the new growth on this.
Maybe call it a "rescue", rather than a "bargain" !
Very rewarding to watch the willow now thriving. :o)
