The friend I was talking about earier, loves this plant, I believe she would consider giving her first born for one of these....lol. Just kidding... he's 26 now. Don't think he'd been at the top of any adoption lists anyway...

I think that's one of the most complicated flowers I've ever seen! Wonderful!

These are so amazing. Orchid like in complexity. I'd only seen them in tropical greenhouse, is it humid there? This looks like open air!

Greenthumb- This was in an enormous greenhouse that was sectioned off and it was not all that humid as compared to the room with the pond, that was 75% humidity. The bat flower was in the 'potted plants' section, #15 of the conservatory, near the special exhibit room. Did you check out the link to San Francisco's Conservatory of Flowers? Here it is, if you're interested:

A very beautiful flower indeed. I have one myself. Purple in colour and top petal looks like cat ears in pairs. Bloom after two years. I found the plant in my rubber plantation, replant it on my garden, 2000 mm yearly rainfall, 85 % humidity, 75 % sunlight. The rhizome must not be too deep in the compost. Will post the photo soon.

It's sound pretty damp where you are, Ingrapi and very lush and beautiful as well. Can't wait to see the photo! :)
