Underground, overground, Wombling free,
The Paddington Wellington learners are we.
Making good use of the things that we find.
Buttons so Panda is no longer blind.
Underground, overground, GoY would be proud,
Pick up your Wellies and sing it out loud.
Off to Olympics with training complete.
Just need some Wellies to fit on our feet.
Underground, overground, Wombling free,
We are the teddybears, one, two and three.
Feeding on marmalade makes us supreme.
Volunteer here for our Grows On You team. :o)

Jacque - you remember Sooty and Sweep?! And Mr.Corbett?
Sorry this one's just a very old panda, and wasn't Sooty yellow?
BTW I knitted his cardi and made his pants for protection - his sawdust was starting to show in places!

Oh, yes ~
Sawdust starting to show.
Happens to us all in the end... :o)

Gillian ~
Do you know the Wombles tune?
Could you sing my ballad?
Confess :o)
16 Oct, 2008
Absolutely - I was singing it! I actually have a cassette tape of Wombling songs that I used to force the children to listen to in the car.
Funny enough, my mother used to live very close to Wimbledon Common!
I even went to Shepperton Studios open house one year and saw the Wombles set.

That settles it then, Gillian.
The adapted Wombles ballad is our official theme song,
and you are our vocalist...
... and not like in China, with the miming.
A ''live" performance, please. :o)

I did used to be a head chorister.......but that was many years ago!

Gillian ~
Your musical talents will be featured in my next training summary over on the GoY Wellie Olympics Blog.
Could be a while, because I've only just done an up-date, and you need to get your stamina built up for the scrolling down....
.....but I'll have a field day with this one. :o)

I went to College across the road from Wimbledon Common - well before the Wombles arrived, though! (showing my age again.)

Spritz ~
On my Wellie Olympics blog, I'll eventually be revealing that you were the original GoY Wellie Olympian.
I've done my research. :o)
PS. If you know the Wombles tune, you could duet with Gillian.

Coming back briefly to the subject of gardening........
Wimbledon is where my grandfather had his first head gardener job.
16 Oct, 2008
Do you mean the Tennis courts, or Wimbledon location ?
16 Oct, 2008
HUGE posh houses, no wonder they needed gardeners! You have to be seriously rich to live in SW19 now!
16 Oct, 2008
Large house in Wimbledon, though my relatives did used to play tennis on the courts.
16 Oct, 2008
My bed-time now, so I'll leave Spritz and Gillian practising their duets :o)
ooooh sounds very melodic...
