This is a disused tiny Church called Santa Croce (Holy Cross)

My father used to tell us that when he was a young boy they would walk up the hill from the town in a procession to this tiny Church and there would be a "festa" (celebration) in the square outside this Church (next photo).

The Church has been abandoned vandalised over the years and the square now used for totally unrelated purposes ..... however my cousin told me that some volunteers are endeavouring to restore the structure and mosaics inside and outside the Church and bring it back to its former glory

What a pity that people can destroy such beautiful things for no reason....
They should put a few large traps around, teach them a lesson! lol..

Well hopefully it looks as if it could happen soon, as these volunteers are in the process of starting restoration work - hence the scaffolding.
