This plant is considered a weed in our area but adds interest to the landscape so I allow it to grow for a couple of months. I usually have to dig up a lot of them each year because they grow where you don't want them. These are annuals and are about 3 feet tall.

The reason these are considered weeds is they are so aggressive and when they grow along the highways and such, they dry out during the winter months. They become a huge clump of dry grass which is then a fire hazard. In our dry weather, it doesn't take much to set them off.

I love those grasses, they are quite expensive here to buy.

I wonder if you would like some of my weeds? I love decorative grasses, but it probably wouldn't be dry enough for them here.

I think weeds are just a matter of personal preference a lot of the time!

I agree Gillian.

Great! I agree with all of you even if my neighbors think I'm nuts for allowing the weeds to grow...

I love them too. We have them in the U.S. and yes they do need taming or get a bit wild. They really balance out the landscape.

Lovely weed that. I wouldn't mind a few.

I really do like the way they look within my landscape....they do multiply quite well and the next year you get to "weed out" a whole lot more.lol
I don't mind. They are easy to dig up.
