The 2nd spike on my orchid has opened up

Wow, that's an exciting looking plant, and I love the way you take your pics with the dark background Tasteyg.

I don't have the proper camera lighting yet. I just use lamps around the house. It's a little clumsy, but will work for now. I like the black backdrop, that way the focus is on the subject alone. Thanks for the compliments Janey :)

I like the way the light hits it and highlights certain areas while downplaying other areas...artistic...

Beautiful shot. I'll have to try some dark lamp lighted shots for the house. In the 'daylight' my subjects look pretty orange.

Yes, Greenthumb give it a try. You have a lot more control when you're in charge of the lighting. I find that sometimes the sun makes things too 'hot' and distorts colors. Another way to get nice difussed light is to make a light box. I posted directions on how to make one somewhere... I'll see if I can find the link for that for you.
