Here is some stuff my mom canned from their garden. In this photo it is being attacked by a yellow jacket that Josh is trying to catch. Someday we will stay in one place long enough to have a full garden and can our own veggies.

Aw that makes me smile. I used to do the same thing for my mom. She even had a couple jars around for a while that HER mom canned like 20 years ago that she didn't have the heart to throw away. I agree. It is definitely an art.

I'm sorry for your loss. I haven't lost a parent yet so I don't know first hand what that is like, but I know that I will miss my mom very much too. Thank you for sharing your memories.

My Grandmother was a phenomenal gardener and canner and it is some of my most evocative memories. I learned from her and still use some of her recipes for Apple Butter and Chili Sauce. I hope you can soon have your garden and can your own produce. Good Luck and Good Memories!!!

I have never really canned vegies...like to freeze them for the most part..have canned rubarb sauce, apple sauce and loved to make bread and butter pickles...My moms were the best. Seeing these jars made me think of all the canning she did...and how I would go down the basement stairs to go to her shelves to pick out a vegetable or fruit that she had asked me to fetch for her....I used to stand and just look at her at her work, it was truly an art.
