Foxhollow in the Fall

Really admire your garden composition, and envy your collection of conifers. Would it be possible to also show us some of your cryptomeria collection?

Garcan - I only have ten cryptomeria here, unfortunately not very well represented. There are already four of these in my photo pages.

Do you need to prune some of your conifers (e.g. Chamaecyparis, juniper and picea etc.) regularly to maintain their neat compact shape and sizes, or are they simply naturally neat and free to grow in your garden?

Hi Garcan,
There are a few that I need to prune, so they do not outgrow their allotted space, e.g. Leylandii 'Gold Rider', Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet' and Metasequoia 'Goldrush'. I only ever prune early in the growing season so that new growth soon covers any signs of pruning and they still keep their natural look. The majority are very slow growing and what you see in the photos is natural growth habit.
