Do you know the best place to plant these ? I've never had any success with them. I've got some to try again this year but haven't planted them yet.

Hywel - according to my bible, eranthis need fertile, humus-rich soil that does not dry out in the summer in sun or light dappled shade. It also adds that tubers that have dried out too much can be difficult to establish. It may be worth soaking any dry tubers for a couple of hours before planting; alternatively buy them already growing

Looks so much like our wild Butter Cups here...is from the same family? They grow only where it stays damp too.

Buttercups are ranunculus; this is eranthis. But they both belong to the ranunculaceae family. This is a large family and also includes such things aconitum, clematis, delphinium, hellebores and paeonies

Very interesting , I thought it looked familiar...a very large family indeed.
