I was given seedlings for Mother's Day from daughter of Ruby Red Sunflowers that would start out orange and brown and end up a deep deep blood red. I photographed them often. These little ones were tiny buds and were the last of the flowers this summer. In a little jar of water they lasted for weeks.

I have never seen these sunflowers except on the GOY site...I'll have to check it out...

I tried all summer to get good photos...to try to get the color right...they were so deeply colored. I found through a mishap that if you put a broken stem in water it will grow for a very long time. I had a stem grow for at least a month in water. Thank you again for the lovely welcome! I can't wait to explore the site and learn more about the gardens you all have!
