I can see the magpie. Do you always salute magpies, I do, one for sorrow, two for joy............
On Autumn Watch the other night a magpie was bullying a fox, it was amazing.

Some years ago I was alerted by a gang of magpies going CRAZY in my back garden, when I looked out the window my cat Tish had a magpie in her mouth. Screaming like a banshee I ran downstairs and into the garden to find Tish birdless and sulking. Thankfully all her teeth had been extracted due to old age and she was only holding the magpie with her gums so it got away.

LOL, Ams, I can just imagine you screaming all the way down the stairs..(Hehe) Tish was very proud of herself in spite of being toothless and when you yelled she lost her concentration...bet she gave you a meaningful look..

I was lucky I did not break my neck running down stairs, I'd give Tish 'proud' with my foot up her bottom ;-)

A swallow use to build it,s nest each year above our back door in the porch , twice it was lucky to escape with it,s life as it swooped in straight into the kitchen to the waiting cat ... each time I had to shake the cat to release it , It still came back each year though !

LOL...funny we are sharing these bird near death experiences, I joined the RSPB today. I paid the full price but people on low incomes can negotiate an annual fee. The RSPB is far more into affirmative action these days so members can feel they can contribute in a productive way.

I can't see the magpie, but I don't want to see him really.
I like the raindrops on your trellis - they're like little jewels.
Oh yes I can see him now. He's far enough away. lol
