I am unfamilier with the plant except that I think it is variegated ... or is this sometimes? I grow the common P. quinguefolia which I usually mispel. :-)
I made a nice bonsai out of mine. Then I ended giving it away. It was for a good cause, but today after seeing that pic, I miss i!

Please tell us more about this plant.

To be honest Secateur i don't know an owful lot about it, but it is not variegated as such, it has quite dark moss green leaves through the summer with silvery/white viens, that makes it far mor attractive than some of the other varieties, it is not as fast growing either, which suited me as i only have a small garden, and it does need some support, eg trellis to get going. according to the info i read when i bought it, it is'nt suposed to be as bright in the autumn as the plain leaf varieties, but i found this not to be true. as you can see from the pic's it has been stunning this year. i have mine growing in a semi shade/full shade possition, semi shade at base in summer, sun on top, and during the winter it is now in full shade - due to the huge extention next door put on there house last year! lol. which seems to suite it, although would proberly grow a bit faster with more sun. also my soil is a bit on the acidic side, i don't think it needs it, but in my expereice with Acer, Rhus and other red turners i think this helps with the brilliance of the colour during autumn. i have pruned it once - early this spring, mine is now 2 years old, and i bought it for approx £10 from ebay. a truely lovely plant, that worth every penny. that is about all i know Secateur, if you managed to get one to grow into a bonsai, i would imagine you are far more expert than me, are some varieties more shrubby than others?. i think you would have a job training this type into a bonsai tree as it is very much a climber, but if you have a space for it - i would defo recomend.
