This photo is of a nest of Rosella hatchlings that were born in a fence-post on our farm. It is quite a delightful treat to have these little ones growing up on our property. I quite look forward to seeing them start to fly and explore the flowering gums that are planted all over our farm.

Yes sometimes you take your own safety in to hand when you get too close to their nests. We used to have the little yellow honey eaters nest in our garden at the Grampians and again at Ballarat and they would zoom around very fiercely if you came within about 15 meters of their nest. Beautiful bird but frustrating when you can't access that part of your yard till the young leave the nest.
